Annual Podcast Awards

What you can enter

Start by choosing the work. A single episode, if there's one you keep coming back to. A special series or limited run made for a finite span. A season, judged as a body of work. Or your show as a whole, considered as an ongoing act of craft.

Then choose where it competes. Craft over charts is not just our motto, it's the shape of the category list. Editing, sound design, mixing, scriptwriting in both fiction and non-fiction, original music, the strength of an interview, the handling of archival and field audio. These are awards for the decisions nobody notices when they're made well, and they sit at the centre of this program rather than tucked away behind the genre prizes.

Beyond craft, there are categories for form and for genre. Fiction and non-fiction, documentary and narrative series, conversation and panel shows. True crime, history, comedy, news, science, culture, sport, and the rest of the territory podcasting has grown into. There are also categories for shows that deserve a fair fight rather than a handicap: independent productions, one-person operations, and podcasts in their first year.

If your show is filmed, enter it anywhere. Most of our categories are judged on the audio alone, so a video podcast competes on exactly the same footing as everyone else in them. We also run categories built for video work specifically, where the picture is part of what's being assessed: the shooting, the cutting, the way the visual and the audio are made to serve each other. Enter the audio categories, the video ones, or both.

You can enter more than one category, and the same work can compete in several at once. Each entry is judged separately in each category, so a season might take an award for its sound design and another for its writing. Everything submitted is also considered for Podcast of the Year, given to the finest work entered regardless of format, genre, or the size of the show behind it. No chart position will win it, because no judge will ever see one.

2026 Podcast Awards Entry
$49.00

One entry. One piece of work. One category.

The work can be a single episode, a special series or limited run, a full season judged as a body of work, or your show as a whole. Pick whichever gives the judges the truest picture of what you can do.

Eligibility follows publication. Enter work that was published during the awards year you're entering. For a season or a series that ran across a year boundary, go by when it finished.

Anyone can enter. Independent creators, networks, studios, students, first-timers. Producers, editors, hosts, and anyone else who worked on a show can submit it.

The category is where that work competes, and you choose exactly one per entry. Craft sits at the centre of the list: editing, sound design, mixing, scriptwriting in fiction and non-fiction, original music, interviewing, the handling of archival and field audio. Beyond craft there are categories for form and genre, and categories for independent productions, one-person operations, and shows in their first year.

CATEGORY LIST

Filmed shows can enter anywhere. Most categories are judged on the audio alone, so a video podcast competes on the same footing as everyone else in them. Separate video categories exist for work that should be assessed on the picture too.

A second category means a second entry, purchased separately, with its own category assigned to it. A second entry is a second panel, a second independent read, and a second written critique, which is why it carries its own fee.

Fit matters. Judges assess how well a piece belongs in the category it landed in, so a strong season entered in the wrong place will score worse than an honest fit. Choose the category that describes what you actually made.

Entries are final. All fees are non-refundable, including entries withdrawn before judging.

Judging runs all year. Entries are scored as they come in rather than piling up for a single review period, which means your critique reaches you well before results are public.

Entries close December 15. Winners are announced at the end of the year.

What placing gets you. A digital badge for your site and feed, and a permanent page in our archive: your work, your category, the judges' write-up, and a link back to your show. Winners can order a solid metal award once results are announced.

Every entry is considered for Podcast of the Year: the finest work submitted, regardless of format, genre, or the size of the show behind it. No chart position will win it, because no judge will ever see one.
